Mission Statement
The Estehanons of Canada got together and took it upon themselves to form an organization for the purpose of preserving the beautiful traits, heritage, tradition, culture and values that make up the composite Estehanon. A quaint cultural trait that an Estehanon has brought with him/her in coming to Canada is the lilting movement of the Kuratsa dance. This and those other admirable qualities that are part and fabric of a true Estehanon are the treasures that we want to impart and hand down to our children who have to endure and withstand the buffeting and assault of counter-cultural forces and changing mores of our time. While retaining and maintaining all these Estehanon traits, we don't neglect the fact that we have to be useful citizens, assets and contributors to the well-being and security of our adopted land, Canada.
Socio-Charitable Activities
Presently, ESCA is involved in two projects in Eastern Samar. One is the STAR Award program. This program is about giving monetary incentives to graduating high school students who are not well-off but have achieved scholastic excellence. Every year the high school principals of the 23 towns of Eastern Samar are to nominate deserving students from their schools. Only one Awardee is chosen for each twenty-three towns. Mr. Ed Lim, the Association adviser and founder, is in charge of this program. He is assisted by Mr. Magno Donozo, a retired high school principal, who is the program's Provincial Coordinator in Eastern Samar. To view template of STAR Award Certificate, click here. The other project of the Association is the remitting of a yearly financial and material aid to OIKOS PTOCHOS THEOU, a Mission Orphanage with outreach programs run by lay sisters in the charism of St. Francis and based in Borongan, Eastern Samar.
